Transport Heritage NSW and the NSW Rail Museum are working with the new owners of the Southern Hemispheres largest steam locomotive, Beyer-Garratt 6029, to assess the locomotive’s condition and conduct trial runs along the Thirlmere Heritage Railway. This iconic steam locomotive was purchased in late 2017 from the liquidators of the former Canberra Rail Museum (ARHS ACT).
