A DEVOTIONAL THOUGHT: On this date in 1837, C. F. W. Walther, the first President of the LCMS, was ordained into the holy ministry in Braunsdorf, Germany. His words about Scripture's references to great sinners is indeed worthy of consideration. His conclusion echoes the words of the Gospel for this Sunday where John the Baptist points to Jesus as "the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world."
