Glinting at the top of Oxford’s second tallest building are now four golden flags, or weather vanes. Have those always been there? Have we just painted them? The answer is sort of yes, and sort of no. It’s uncertain how long there have been flags on the Tower, but we think at least three of these have been there since the Tower was completed in 1505, nearly 520 year
