Adding texture with couching: subtle but so satisfying. This is one of my favourite ways to add stitched lines to a piece- laying down thread and securing it with small stitches to create gentle raised textures. There’s so much to explore with this technique: the line can shift dramatically depending on the thickness of the thread you couch down, and whether you choose a matching or contrasting thread to secure it.
