Jul 11, 2023 · Two places on current card frames- lower left side, next to the number which is the collector number of the version, card, and set, is a letter. This is M, for mythic, magic's highest rarity. Also, on the right of the center of the card, the type line, is the set symbo.

But luckily, a) anything produced after that time is guaranteed to have an expansion symbol which you can look up anywhere a google search of "magic expansion symbols" takes you, and b) you're not likely to have newer cards sitting ...
