The only ones I'd specifically recommend avoiding would be the first two generations of games, Red & Blue and Gold & Silver. Mostly this is because the ideas were all new and a lot of kinks still hasn't been worked out. And while every generation refines the game mechanics, there's a significant bump going into the third generation.

The two first games I played were Fire Red and Pokemon Emerald on a GBA emulator and I loved the simplicity and the easy way you can get into the game without owning the consoles. After that, I played Pokemon Platinum on a DS emulator but didn't find it that easy to play.

Mar 22, 2023 · The only con I can find with the game is that it's TOO GOOD! After playing this game, no other Pokemon game, be they official or a hack, has even come close to this level of quality. Every other Pokemon game you play from this game onward won't measure up, and you'll instead be left wishing you could play this game again for the first time.
