DEIR al-BALAH, Gaza Strip (AP) — Hamas said Friday it has given a “positive” response to the latest proposal for a ceasefire in Gaza but said further talks were needed on implementation.

Hamas has responded positively to the latest ceasefire proposal mediated by Egypt and Qatar, expressing readiness for immediate negotiations on implementation. While the specifics remain unclear, Hamas seeks guarantees of a complete end to the war following the initial truce.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Wednesday said there would be "no more Hamas" in post-war Gaza, as the Palestinian militant organization was reportedly considering a new mediation proposal for a ceasefire in the territory.
