-Tuesday night: Snow will taper from west to east through the Ohio Valley and mid-Atlantic. At least light snowfall could reach as far north as the New York City tri-state area. Significant icing from freezing rain will continue to impact southwestern parts of Virginia and southeast West Virginia.

A snowstorm blew into the mid-Atlantic states on Tuesday, causing dozens of accidents on icy roads, prompting school closures and stoking worries about possible power outages.

Travel will become treacherous Tuesday through early Wednesday in much of Virginia and West Virginia, the National Weather Service said.
