Adam Schefter believes Mike McCarthy is firmly in the mix for the vacant New Orleans Saints coaching gig, following his unceremonious departure from the Dallas Cowboys.

After three straight seasons where Mike McCarthy led the Dallas Cowboys to the playoffs, it was a difficult final season for him in Dallas and that culminated with the team moving on from him once his contract ran out.

Now that he is no longer with the Dallas Cowboys, Mike McCarthy may be in the mix for the only other NFL head-coaching vacancy still left. Appearing Friday on “The Pat McAfee Show,” NFL insider Adam Schefter indicated that McCarthy could be in play for the New Orleans Saints' head-coaching job.
