A Vermont police officer is being charged in connection with a cyclist’s death in South Burlington. Shelburne Police Sgt.

Kyle Kapitanski is set to appear in criminal court next month on a felony charge for killing 38-year-old Sean Hayes with his police cruiser.

The lawsuit against Shelburne alleged that the officer drove his motor vehicle in an “unsafe, unreasonable, careless and negligent fashion” leading to the death of Sean Hayes of Burlington.
