Island Hopper drew inspiration from other festivals, including Nashville's Tin Pan South and the Key West Songwriters Festival, MacPhee says. Both of those are mostly free, songwriter-focused events.

Island Hopper Songwriter Fest is organized by BMI, iHeart Radio’s Cat Country 107.1 FM, the Florida Restaurant & Lodging Association and the Lee County Visitor & Convention Bureau.
