The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has updated its immunization schedule for children, days after US Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. announced that Covid-19 vaccines would be struck from the list of recommended shots for healthy children and pregnant women.

The nation's top public health agency posted new recommendations that say healthy children and pregnant women may get COVID-19 vaccinations, removing stronger language that those groups should get the shots.

Nearly 1,900 children up to 18 years of age died of COVID-19 in the U.S. as per CDC's estimates last updated in 2023.
