New Year's snowstorm coming to MA. Cape & Islands to get the most.
Most Mass. cities and towns will see at least a light coating of snow, but Cape Cod, Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket have a winter weather advisory.
Here's how much snow Cape Cod - and the rest of Massachusetts - is expected to see, according to the National Weather Service.
The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for Barnstable County from 7 p.m. Wednesday to 1 p.m. Thursday, as snow could make for dangerous travel conditions. The forecast calls for 2 to 4 inches of snow, with the heaviest snowfall between 1 a.m. and 7 a.m. Thursday.
A post-Christmas storm that moved through New England Friday night into early Saturday morning brought significant snowfall to some areas.
Western and Central Massachusetts should expect to see snow starting around 7 a.m. or 8 a.m. Eastern Time, whereas people in the Greater Boston area, may be seeing snowfall by 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. ET, Mensch said. Here's what you need to know about snow Tuesday morning.
The snow is expected to begin in the Berkshires in Western Massachusetts between 9 and 10 p.m. on Dec. 31. The showers will then move eastward, hitting Central and Eastern Massachusetts by midnight and 2 a.m. on New Year’s Day. Cape Cod & the Islands may not see flakes until 3 a.m.
