State medical investigators will examine the bodies of three Revere women who died in mysterious circumstances in Belize once they are returned to the United States.

The Massachusetts Chief Medical Examiner’s office will examine the bodies of the three Revere women who were recently found dead in a hotel in Belize to determine their cause of death.

The cause of death for each of the three Revere women who were found dead in their Belize hotel room was an “acute pulmonary edema."

Authorities in Belize have determined the cause of death for three Massachusetts women who were found dead inside a luxury hotel earlier this month.An autopsy revealed blood in the women's lungs, CBS Boston reported.

Investigators in Belize say the three women from Massachusetts who died while on vacation had a build-up of fluids in their lungs. The three women from Revere, 23-year-old Kaoutar Naqqad, 24-year-old Imane Mallah, and 26-year-old Wafae El-Arar, were found unconscious in their hotel room at the Royal Kahal Beach Resort last week.

Belize police identified the women as Kaoutar Naqqad, 23, Imane Mallah, 24, and Wafae El Arar, 26, of Revere, Mass., who were staying at the Royal Kahal Beach Resort.

Surveillance footage showed them entering their rooms Thursday night and not coming back out, police said in a statement.
