The Republican-controlled statehouse sent the bill to Gov. Spencer Cox’s (R) desk last week after it passed both chambers largely along party lines.

Utah is on track to become the first state to ban fluoride from its water supply. A bill that takes away local government’s choice to add fluoride passed the state legislature and now awaits Republican Gov.

Harmful or helpful? Both the benefits and the risks of fluoride injected into public drinking water systems was part of a legislative discussion.
