Last week, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences came out with their list of official nominees that will compete for Oscars in 2025 and " Dune: Part 2 ," " Alien: Romulus ," and " Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes " did find some favor with a number of Academy voters.

Dune: Part Two star Josh Brolin chided the Academy for not nominating director Denis Villeneuve for his acclaimed work on the blockbuster sci-fi sequel. Brolin took to his Instagram stories to point out that “it makes no sense” that Villeneuve was snubbed for best director given the film racking up five nominations — including best picture.
