James Ransone, who played Ziggy Sobotka in “The Wire” and a host of other HBO roles, has died. He was 46. Ransone died by suicide Friday in Los Angeles, according to the Los Angeles County medical examiner.
A medical examiner ruled the death as a suicide by hanging, according to TMZ. The Baltimore-born actor was perhaps best known for his prominent role as Ziggy Sabotka in the second season of “The Wire,” a critically-acclaimed and much-beloved crime drama from HBO, according to Variety.
