Kilauea, located about 200 miles (320 kilometers) southeast of Honolulu, is one of five volcanoes that make up the Big Island of Hawaii. The volcano's summit is about 4,091 feet (1,247 meters) above sea level.

Kilauea, one of the world's most active volcanoes, has been erupting on and off for nearly two months since it burst to life on Dec. 23.

Hawaii’s Kilauea volcano has erupted once again, shooting lava 330 feet into the sky and drawing crowds to Hawai‘i Volcanoes National Park. This marks the ninth eruption since December 23, 2024, with previous ones lasting from 13 hours to eight days.
