A Royal British Legion standard bearer who admits to being an awful speller has written a book of poems inspired by everyday life for the organisation.

The 1915 poem was instantly popular, inspiring the Royal British Legion—a U.K. charity, which supports veterans and their families to this day—to sell millions of handmade poppies.
