The infamous Chicago Rat Hole – a rodent-shaped dent in Roscoe Village that recently became an off-beat tourist attraction – was, once again, dug out by devoted fans Wednesday.

The Chicago "Rat Hole" is a splat mark on a sidewalk shaped like a rat that fell from the sky. The shape is made up of individual imprints of toes, claws, legs and a tail attached to a body.

The “rat hole” is located 1900 block of West Roscoe Street in Roscoe Village. The mysterious animal has gained attention across the city following news reports and social media posts.

The rat hole has been filled with coins and surrounded by offerings, including a shrine, handmade signs, gifts and even estradiol pills, which are estrogen hormones.

If anyone wants a replica of the rat hole, he asks them to donate $25 or more to Sarah’s Circle, a women’s shelter in Uptown. He’s raised about $3,000 for the nonprofit.
