Details are emerging of the horrifying final moments of a British couple who died alongside two others when the cable car they were travelling in plummeted 100ft into an Italian mountainside.
A cable car accident on a mountain near Naples left at least four people dead and one critically injured, according to officials in southern Italy.
Stresa Mayor Marcella Severino told local media it appeared a cable had snapped close to the route's final pylon, causing the car to plunge and overturn several times.
Hanging over a steep drop, the cable car hurtled “at full speed” into a pylon and plummeted nearly 100ft into thick woodland. The carriage then tumbled down the mountainside, rescuers said.
