The Philadelphia Flyers fired John Tortorella during his third season as coach, the NHL franchise announced Thursday. Tortorella led the Flyers to a 28-36-9 record this season.
Most recently, the Flyers suffered a 7-2 loss at the hands of the Toronto Maple Leafs on Tuesday, bringing Philadelphia's record to 28-36-9 (65 points) on the year.
He coached 40 games for the New York Islanders in 2005-06, going 18-18-4, and he was an associate or assistant coach in St. Louis, Columbus and Vancouver before joining the Flyers in 2022-23.
