Iran has seized a vessel over alleged fuel smuggling. Reuters cited the semi-official Tasnim news agency as saying the operation took place on Sunday. The unnamed small ship was carrying 350,000 litres of fuel. Iran said it was flying the flag of the landlocked country of Eswatini.
Iranian forces regularly target tankers that Tehran accuses of illegally transporting fuel in the Strait of Hormuz. Earlier in November they captured a Marshall Islands-flagged tanker in the geographically pivotal waters. The authorities said "the tanker was in violation for carrying unauthorised cargo" without providing specifics.
