NBC is getting set to host the NBA Slam Dunk Contest next month, and it is pleading for the stars to make it an event again.

NBA on NBC legends floated Bronny James as a dunk contest pick, pointing to Hollywood, name value, and All-Star buzz in LA.

All of that prompted one of the participants in one of the greatest dunk contests in history, the 2000 edition, Tracy McGrady, to make a public appeal to young stars to start participating again.
