WASHINGTON (Reuters) -U.S. President Donald Trump on Friday said there was a 50-50 chance that the United States would reach a trade agreement with the European Union. Trump spoke to reporters as he left the White House to head to Scotland for several days of golfing and bilateral meetings.

Trump said the U.S. will impose a 15% tariff on Japanese imports under the agreement, which he hailed as "maybe the largest deal in history."

The European Union and the U.S. are moving toward a trade deal that could include a 15% U.S. baseline tariff on EU goods and possible exemptions, two European diplomats said on Wednesday, potentially moving President Donald Trump closer to another major trade agreement on the heels of the one he just unveiled with Japan.
