The grocery company Kroger is shutting down 60 locations in the wake of labor unrest, a failed merger and the chief executive's resignation.

Costco stores will be closed on July 4. Most Sam’s Club locations will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. July 4. Check your local store's hours in advance. Most Kroger locations are expected to have regular hours. Meijer stores will stay open on Independence Day.

The decision to close dozens of stores follows significant internal changes at the company, including the resignation of former CEO Rodney McMullen in March.
