As first responders continue to rescue people stranded by the torrential flooding that descended on central Texas Friday, dozens of people are facing a parent’s worst nightmare: Their children are missing.

Heavy rains unleashed a “catastrophic” and deadly flood Friday on the Guadalupe River in Central Texas, prompting evacuations and a frantic search for missing people. At least 32 people were killed in the flood, officials said Saturday afternoon, as both state and county authorities emphasized many unknowns remain.

With additional rain on the way, the risk of more flooding was still high in saturated parts of central Texas.
