Jannik Sinner’s co-coaches discuss in a joint interview with The Associated Press how the top-ranked player from Italy keeps winning at the ATP Finals amid enormous expectations from his home fans and a pending doping case.

Andrea Gaudenzi said at the ATP Finals that anyone hinting that a “double standard” was applied because of top-ranked Jannik Sinner’s status is “unfair because the rules have been the same.”

World No. 1 Jannik Sinner improved his nearly spotless 2024 record to 68-6 on Thursday with a straight-sets win over world No. 4 Daniil Medvedev in the final group stage match of the ATP Finals. The Italian achieved the rare feat of winning all three round-robin matches in straight sets to punch his ticket to Saturday's semifinal.

There "could have been better communication" in explaining the rules involved in Jannik Sinner's doping case, but no double standard was applied, ATP Tour chairman Andrea Gaudenzi acknowledged.
